What’s wrong with Malay Muslims in Malaysia?

There’s a video circulating in Facebook; soon it will be all over mainstream media. In this video, you will see a lady smacking, kicking, hitting and slapping a year old baby. The video is four minutes long. So if you don’t have the stomach to watch it, then don’t. While this lady keeps hitting the baby, the woman recording the video does nothing but tries to calm down the lady named ‘Ira’ – or the hitting-baby lady. Maybe she’s recording this as proof to send Ira to jail. And apparently, this video is a year old. Ira has pleaded guilty and is now in jail.

What is wrong with this picture?

Is the mother insane? Has she lost the will to care the baby? Is this depression? Is it possible that having this baby caused her to act in such manner? Did she want to keep the baby in the first place? Does she hate the baby because it reminded her of the father? Did the husband up and left her?

There are so many questions left unanswered. But what is sure, there’s something wrong with Malay Muslims. Not all, but quite a few.

Raping, killing, bullying, hitting and all the violent acts I’ve seen in Malaysia, are caused by Malays. What is happening here?

Malays are not animals. And geared with a religion that promotes peace, this situation does not gel. Malays utter ‘Peace Be Upon You or Assalamualikum’ every single day and if those words are taken to heart, then Malays or Muslims are peaceful beings.  Although as naïve as that may sound.

Why is this lady not at peace?

During the PTPTN rally, we see a bunch of Malay hooligans creating ruckus and beating people up. Why? The prophet never promoted violence in the first place. Only defend when Islam is threatened.  PTPTN has nothing to do with Islam. It is about education – free education! Although I don’t agree with that idea (because I paid my PTPTN in full), these people didn’t deserve that.

Why are Malays not at peace?

Where am I heading with this? Why am I taking so long to get to the point? Because there is none to begin with. Malays in Malaysia are just lost. Lost in terms of the right way of practicing the religion. Lost because of distractions. Lost because it’s easier that facing the truth and learning about the truth. It’s easier to believe in the lie. So what’s the point?

This is why Malays in Malaysia are not at peace.

My advise, for those who I have offended, is to start praying. Respect yourself as a Muslim first. Practice yourself as a Muslim. Being Malay comes second.

It is the pressure of tryingto be a perfect Muslim that has made some gone crazy.

Different people are at different levels of spiritual evolution. Just as not everyone can score or will score distinctions in all subjects, it is the same with bridging the gap between God n man.

In other religions, we don't have religious police. In Islam, you are being police all the time.
