4 CLUBS, 1 CAR and NO MONEY SPENDED.
This story is dedicated to the people that were present on July 22, 2007. It is all based on a true and inspiring event.
It was approximately around 11.45 that I received an sms from Nadine. I was supposed to meet up with them at Zouk, The Velvet Room.
The thing is, Nadine arranged a little meet up on that day and since I miss the Friday event, I had to come for this one.
I arrived first at Zouk and was a bit shocked when the crowds were lining up outside like a bunch of sheeps. In my mind, this was gonna be an interesting night.
Nadine, Grace, Charmaine and Rayyan arrived 10 minutes later after me, looking sharp and sleek but they didn’t see me. So I non-chalantly came up behind Grace and Charmaine by asking shyly “Scuse me miss, is this the queue to get inside”?
We exchanged hugs and pleasantries, and now our focus was on getting in the Velvet room. It didn’t took us that long to get in, thanks to Rayyan’s extensive connections and communication skills.
It was time for all of us to get down and boogie – we were also still sober. The place was packed like a can of sardine – literally. Half of the time we were battling ourselves to get thru the crowd, moving from one place to another. Some idiot’s ciggie stung Charmaine’s hand and Grace and Nadine took the opportunity to grab some random assess (it’s true!)
We somehow ended up standing in this shady corner, which seemed leading to the toilets – which also explains the pungent, funky smell. We were hesitant to get some drinks because we were afraid it might take too long. And we were not feeling the Velvet Room.
So what did we do?
We walked out and decided to go to Cineleisure at ze Curve.
The guys came to Zouk with only one car, a Gen 2 (1.3) and we had to squeeze in - some had to kangkang. Why one car? Keep on reading.
So, we all got in and begin on our next destination which was Cineleisure at The Curve, but why with only one car?
Apparently, Rayyan’s car was in Sunway, while Grace and Charmaine’s car was in Bangsar Tropics. The reason why Rayyan’s car was in Bangsar is because he had to chaperone Grace back from Friday’s aftermath (I will not go into details unless the individual consent is given). So, when they went and meet up with Nadine, they came with Grace’s car. And since we were heading to The Curve, Damansara, where Rayyan lived, it kinda sucks for him because if he had his car, he could go home after our night out there, but instead, he has to go all the way back to Sunway and get his car.
So, we were all sober but that didn’t dampen our spirit to have fun because Cineleisure was fast approaching, and all of us are anticipating for a sip of alcohol. Charmaine however was already high from whiffing the alcohol smell at The Velvet Room, and because of that, she opted for a Karaoke session too.
Lady luck was on our side because we got a parking space right in front of the entrance. And our first stop is to go to Red Box and have a karaoke session and a little alcohol action. We skipped happily towards the stairs and walked pass by The Sanctuary thinking that the search for fun is near, until the neon red lights was not lit and the entrance was already closed.
At first, Charmaine thought the entrance on the other side is open, and with tiny amount of hope, we walk around and about just to finally understand that the Red Box has indeed closed. We were still not giving up because there was still Cineleisure, so we walk all the way back and headed across the bridge to get there just to realize that the automatic open and close door had become closed for quite some time.
It was 1.45 and the last resort seemed to be The Sanctuary .We were surprised to find Adrian there, just chilling away – obviously since he didn’t have to go through what we went through. Our hope to drink was crushed when we found out that it was closing in 15 minutes.
There was only one option.
All of us agreed to just go to 7-11 and buy beer and drink in front of the CIMB bank like a bunch of pathetic little losers. Rayyan bought beer, Grace bought a soft drink, Charmaine bought milk and chocolate, Nadine gotten soyabean and I got myself Peel Fresh orange juice.
And so there we were. All 5 of us. Laughing and chatting away of how amazing the night has been , and how that day should mark as “Loser Day” because of our situation and what we went through just to have fun. Charmaine was showing her rempit side which was cool but we had to keep her mouth shut once in awhile. But, the bright side is that we can proudly show off to everyone that we went to 4 clubs without even spending a cent and we chill out at Club 7, which opens 24 hrs. The most happening place ever. We took pics and it will forever be a momentous event for all of us.
So, the moral of the story is – Leave your car in one place and perseverance pays off in the end.
Here’s to 22nd of July 2007, Saturday. The Loser Day. The Coolest Day.
