The end of a copywriter.
And the beginning of the post-digital copywriter.
Are you hyperventilating? Relax. Calm down. Don't worry about the title, but it is nice to have. A post-digital copywriter is still a copywriter. But with more skills needed in order to survive in the ad scene. If you are already active on twitter, writing on blogs, updating facebook statuses and writing sweet ass memes on 9gag, you're already there.
You see, a post-digital writer is not only tech savvy, but a maestro in social media. Think of it this way, now a writer has a bigger canvas to expand his or her writing forte. Furthermore, this new age writers are set to change the way of copywriting. Of course the days of Neil French, Ogilvy and Eugene Chong are not entirely gone, but the bulk of work no longer depends on long and witty writing.
Don't get me wrong. People do still read but they read in smaller chunks. We all know how many information are bombarding the interweb, and because of that people do not have the time to read one long copy ad.
So, here are the tips to becoming a post-digital copywriter: understand the social media scene, write within the limits of twitter, understand technology and read haiku.
Good luck.
