Negative? Emotionless? Serious!!?
I recently created a new blog and the first person to have the luxury to read it was my girlfriend.
As I anxiously waited for her comments, my mind kept imagining how excited she was to have read the contents in my new blog.
Afternoon turned to evening, evening turned to night, and night turned to midnight. She was still taking her sweet time. But this is due to the fact that she had a pitch coming up.
Finally, around 11pm, she finally gave her answer. She said " Umm, ok lar. But no feel la. So serious. So not smooth", and the rest was about how she really hated the layout (art directors).
I really took her comment to heart because I needed to upgrade from an "ok" writer to a "decent" writer.
Heart broken and confidence destroyed, again, I tried to write something else that was close to my heart.
Eureka!!
Ikko was my answer!
Now Ikko was my most favourite cat. He lived with me from Cyberjaya to KL circa 2006 - 2009. I loved him to bits.
Writing about Ikko was easy. Words flowed like river and it filled up the pages in my notebook quite fast.
Finally when I was done, I read it to my girlfriend.
"Hmm, ok lar. Serious ler. Not really smooth," was what she said.
I placed my notebook by the side of the bed and slept.
Why oh why did I keep on sharing my writing with an art director?
