Try writing a Direct Mailer letter in less than a day.

Recently, Arc Worldwide was chosen as one of the agencies to pitch for a very lucrative car brand.

After days of blood, sweat and tears, it was only a mere 2 and half days before the big presentation came up.

I was tasked to write a letter for a Direct Mailer idea. It was a mountain out of a molehill task. And it proved to be a challenge.

Now why was it a mountain out of a molehill task? How can one simple Direct Mailer letter be such a nuisance?

Let me explain. The ideas had to be approved by the board of bosses first. Then, after the approval, it was down to the nitty gritty bit (this is where the molehill grows).

You see, the approval of the idea was done 2 and half days before the big presentation. And everyone knows, writing after a long day of working, is a NO-NO.

So, that leaves me actually with one and a half day left.

Ready for the kicker?

As I waltzed in the office today and getting ready to start writing the letter, my boss walks towards my desk and tells me that the big boss wants to see the full copy letter by today. At 8.30pm.

Snap.

I have a better chance catching a pink elephant than accomplishing that. Because writing this letter needs crafting. Big time crafting. Mega big time crafting.

And after many frustrations, changes, drafts and all, I realize my patience was running out. But it is not an excuse. Either ways I gotta write or die trying.

So. Did I manage to finish that letter?

Oh yes I did.

And my boss changed the whole thing (although it was here and there).
